Real-time 1v1 matchmaking
Choose your match format and LETRIXA pairs you with a player of a similar level who is looking for the same thing. You play the same board live, round by round, with both scores on screen — and you can send your rival a quick reaction.
How the ELO rating works
Everyone starts at 1000 ELO. Beating a stronger player earns you more points than beating a weaker one, and losing to a lower-rated player costs more. The number of rounds in the match also scales how much your rating moves.
Only multiplayer matches change your ELO. If you lose your connection when a match ends, the result is recorded when you reconnect.
11 leagues, from Initiate to Legend
Your ELO places you in one of eleven leagues, from lowest to highest:

- Apprentice
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Sapphire
- Ruby
- Diamond
- Master
- Grandmaster
- Legend
Three-month seasons and badges
Rankings run in seasons of three months. When a season closes, the top three players in each language earn an exclusive badge.
Global and per-language rankings
There’s a global ranking and one for each language, so you compare yourself with people playing the same dictionary. The daily challenge has its own season ranking too.
Warm up against bots
Before a ranked match, sharpen your skills against 17 bots with their own personalities, from easy to expert. Bot games don’t change your ELO, but they do add season points — and you can play them offline.

Is ranked 1v1 free?
Yes. Free players can play 15 multiplayer games a day; Premium makes it unlimited.
Will I face someone of my level?
Matchmaking gives priority to players with a similar ELO who chose the same format.
Can I also play with people I know?
