What you can play offline
Everything that doesn’t involve other players works without a connection:
- Solo practice in Classic, Infinite or Explorer mode.
- Bot mode, against 17 opponents.
- The [daily challenge](page:daily), with its 7-letter word.
Practice at your own pace
Choose a 4×4, 5×5 or 6×6 board and a mode. Classic adds a timer and bonus words; Infinite has no clock and lets you change boards freely; Explorer challenges you to find every word on the board.
It’s the best way to learn common letter patterns before you play against people. The rules are explained in our Boggle-style game guide.
17 bots with their own personality
The bots cover four difficulty levels, from easy to expert. Beat them to earn up to three stars each, level up with every bot and unlock achievements. Some bots are exclusive to Premium players.
What needs a connection
Anything involving other players needs internet: real-time 1v1, rooms, duels, friends and rankings. When you’re back online, you can jump straight into a game with friends or a ranked 1v1.
Getting the most out of offline play
- Use Explorer mode to see which words you missed on each board.
- Train on 6×6 boards to spot long words, which score up to 15 points.
- Go back to bots you beat with one star and try for all three.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to download anything extra?
No. The dictionaries are included in the app when you install it.
Is my progress saved when I play offline?
Yes. Your statistics and achievements are stored on your phone. With Premium they’re also backed up to the cloud.
Is offline play free?
Yes. Practice, bots and the daily challenge are free; only some exclusive bots require Premium.
